Functional Testing

I have access to a vast amount of functional testing which is currently not available on the NHS. This enables me to get to the root of your fertility and hormonal challenges. My blood testing alone can include up to 600 markers. I know that data is needed before making meaningful change to fertility outcomes.

DUTCH Testing

DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) maps oestrogen, progesterone, androgens and a full daily cortisol curve, rather than a single point in time. Ovulation, luteal phase progesterone and stress physiology all follow a pattern across the month, and DUTCH testing picks up issues like a shortened luteal phase or poor progesterone output that a single blood draw misses.

Comprehensive Stool Testing

Stool testing looks at gut bacteria balance, inflammation and digestive function. The gut microbiome directly influences how oestrogen is cleared from the body and is closely linked to vaginal and uterine microbiome health, so gut dysbiosis is often an overlooked and important factor for fertility.

Functional Blood Testing

Functional blood testing goes far beyond a standard fertility panel with up to 600 markers, covering nutrient status, thyroid antibodies, inflammation and blood sugar regulation within a narrower, more clinically meaningful range. Subclinical thyroid dysfunction, vitamin D or ferritin can all sit within a technically ‘normal’ range but not be optimal for fertility.

DNA Fragmentation

Sperm DNA fragmentation testing measures damage within sperm DNA, something a standard semen analysis doesn't assess. Elevated fragmentation is linked to lower fertilisation rates, poorer embryo development and higher miscarriage risk, even with a normal semen analysis, and it responds well to nutrition and lifestyle change.

Vaginal Microbiome

Vaginal microbiome testing uses next-generation sequencing to identify the full range of bacteria and yeast present. A Lactobacillus-dominant environment is linked to better implantation and pregnancy outcomes, while dysbiosis raises the risk of pregnancy loss and implantation failure, often without symptoms.

Seminal Microbiome

Seminal microbiome testing analyses the bacterial ecosystem within semen. An imbalance is linked to reduced sperm motility and DNA integrity and can trigger inflammation, often without symptoms. This is important after recurrent miscarriage, unexplained infertility and early embryo arrest.

Uterine Microbiome

Uterine microbiome testing, examines bacteria within the endometrial cavity itself. It can uncover endometritis, a low-grade infection of the uterine lining that can develop after a pregnancy loss and can be implicated in further losses and implantation failure if left untreated.

OAT Test

The OAT (Organic Acids Test) measures metabolic byproducts in urine to assess gut overgrowth, mitochondrial function and nutrient status. Mitochondrial function directly affects the energy available for egg maturation and sperm production, and this test can uncover contributing factors standard testing misses.

Genetic Testing

Genetic testing can look at variations in genes involved in methylation and nutrient processing, such as MTHFR. These affect how efficiently your body uses folate and manages oxidative stress, both relevant to egg and sperm quality and miscarriage risk. Panels can also extend to genetic markers affecting hormone metabolism and thyroid function.

Environmental Toxins

Environmental toxin testing assesses your body's burden of endocrine disrupting chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides. These compounds interfere with hormone signalling and are linked to reduced egg and sperm quality and pregnancy losses.

Sperm Analysis

A comprehensive sperm analysis assesses count, motility, round cells (infection) and morphology. Sperm quality contributes to roughly half of infertility cases where a cause is found, and testing both partners early avoids months of investigation focused on one half of the picture.

Mira Hormone Testing

Mira is an at-home monitor tracking actual hormone levels, LH, oestrogen and PdG, across your full cycle via daily urine testing. It reveals patterns like anovulation or a poor progesterone response in real time, giving a far more detailed picture than ovulation predictor kits or app-based tracking alone.
